Advantage Sales and Marketing positions, asked for app, hired, but got burned?
I recently got a call from this company and they hired me. However, shortly after sending more detailed information I got an email saying hiring was put on a freeze in my area due to the sudden discharge of a district manager. The posting still remains on craigslist.com and I find that rather fishy that a big company that just put a freeze on hiring in order to wait for a new DM. If its not a scam-that’s down right irresponsible. If it is a scam, its a damn good one. How many people have had this happen to you? Given the fact they sent an email right after they received my information and never called back, I’m concerned about identity theft.
I’m afraid of identity theft more than anything. No banking info was asked for, but detailed info like SS # name and address was
I just had a job but lost it because I live too far away. I didn’t leave until I got this job. Then the bomb got dropped
If you provided any hiring information to them (Social Security, government ID, banking information, phone, etc.), and are not comfortable with the situation, it’s time to call them and speak to HR. This is especially true if they ask for and you gave them banking information. If that doesn’t sound like an option, contact your state’s attorney general office. They can give you guidance on your rights and responsibility if this is indeed fraud.
